Cetyl Tranexamate Mesylate
Tranexamic Acid (TXA) is a third-generation bioactive ingredient widely used in advanced skincare formulations to help reduce redness and improve the appearance of dark spots and uneven skin tone. External stressors such as UV exposure, shaving, harsh solvents, and detergents can disrupt the skin barrier and trigger keratinocytes in the epidermis to release signaling mediators, including plasminogen. These mediators initiate a cascade of biological processes in the skin, including inflammation, increased plasmin activity, accelerated keratinocyte proliferation, altered desquamation, melanocyte activation and differentiation, elevated tyrosinase activity, and enhanced melanosome transfer to the upper epidermal layers. Together, these processes contribute to hyperpigmentation, uneven tone, and dull-looking skin. Tranexamic Acid works by inhibiting plasmin activity, helping to slow this cascade of events. As a result, TXA supports a more even skin tone, reduces the appearance of redness, and promotes faster recovery of the skin barrier following external stress.
