Gluconolactone
Glucono Delta Lactone (Gluconolactone) is a naturally-derived, food-grade ingredient sourced from non-GMO materials, making it an excellent choice for a variety of cosmetic and personal care formulations. Often utilized for its gentle acidifying and chelating properties, Glucono Delta Lactone plays a crucial role in promoting a safer, more stable product environment by reducing pH and preventing microbial growth. This unique molecule features multiple hydroxyl groups that not only help to <some extent> control water activity but also impart moisturizing benefits, enhancing the effectiveness of skin and hair care products. Thanks to its gradual hydrolysis to gluconic acid—taking place over 40 to 60 minutes after dissolution—Glucono Delta Lactone offers a progressive decrease in pH, making it particularly valuable when combined with broad-spectrum antimicrobials like Leucidal Liquid. Ideal for use in serums, creams, lotions, and facial toners, Glucono Delta Lactone is indeed a versatile component in the cosmetic industry, contributing to both preservation and hydration.
