Vegetable Glycerin (Glycerin) is a versatile and highly effective ingredient that enhances the texture and hydration of cosmetic formulations. Derived through a process of adding alkalies to fats and oils, such as soybean oil, it acts as a soothing humectant and emollient, making the skin feel softer and smoother. Its high hydrophilic (water-attracting) properties allow it to draw moisture into the skin, while its low lipophilic (fat-attracting) nature ensures it does not leave a greasy residue. This makes Vegetable Glycerin an ideal addition to both skin and hair products, providing essential hydration and enhancing overall formulation efficacy. Although it can effectively act as a preservative when used at concentrations of 50% or higher, its delightful, non-sticky texture ensures that products remain pleasant to use.
